Cullen Mangan Vineyard Sauvignon/Semillon (Margaret River) 2007
Pale, almost white in colour, this wine shows aromas of baby pea shoots, passionfruit, lemon and fresh straw on the nose, with just a hint of smokiness, which is the result of a 32 per cent new oak influence. On the palate, the wine is spicy, crisp and balanced. It has a creamy, mid-palate texture from the Semillon and also from a wild yeast ferment. It has terrific length. Mouth-wateringly delicious.

It doesn't get any better than this. The 2009 Verdelho is unbelievable. As soon as it is poured, the aromatics leap out of the glass and fill the room. An early herald of what is going to be a very exciting and high quality 2009 Vintage.

RED
Kilikanoon Prodigal Grenache (Clare Valley) 2007
Intense cherry red to brick red in colour, with subtle youthful crimson tints. Perfumed aromas of cherries, chocolate and leather, that combine well with the dusty, spicy oak flavours. A big Grenache style, with richly perfumed plum, cherry and chocolate fruit flavours. Although dry, the wine possesses a real 'sweet fruit' character that is reinforced by the warm alcohol finish. Subtle oak influence and firm tannins have produced a wine that is balanced with pronounced flavour persistence. Good cellaring potential of at least 8-10 years. A truly great wine.

Kilikanoon The Medley (Clare Valley) 2007
A classic ‘Rhone’ style blend made traditionally from fully mature Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro grapes from selected vineyards in the Barossa and Clare Valleys. Seamlessly constructed and perfectly matched, the Medley is ideally featured as a food wine where the gentle tannins and earthy fruit flavours complement but not dominate the senses. Typically fruit from older vineyards and a real ‘hands on’ approach to the winemaking process has been the driving force behind the Medley style. This passion for what was old but now new again features strongly in this wine. An ageing potential of at least 8 – 10 years with careful cellaring.

Greenock Creek Cabernet Sauvignon (Barossa Valley) 2004
A very smooth wine, with the usual deep well of blackberry, blueberry and perfumes that spring up as the wine gets air. In the mouth, it's an elegant and supple wine with smooth and silky texture. The leafy greens evident in the first rush of bouquet rise again in the finish, but the wine remains in beautiful balance. It leaves the palate singing, the gums bristling for food, and the salivary glands gushing in response to its fine-grained tannins and strapping acidity.

D’Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz (McLaren Vale) 2006
The Dead Arm Shiraz has a vivid young deep purple colour. The nose shows intense and complex cedar, fig, blackberry and blueberry with occasional pepper and spice. Vanilla, mocha, oak and attacking blackberry/cassis characters are also evident on the palate. Full, intense and sweet middle palate flavours have a distinctly silky, svelte texture deceptively disguising the rich powerful cassis and toffee-mocha flavours. After time in bottle the d’Arenberg Dead Arm gains a biscuit, cinnamon, caramel and eucalyptus based bouquet on top of rich blackberry pie smells. Restrained tannin and acidity coupled with rich alcohol produce a seamless, peppery, velvety rolling length.

Grosset Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir (Clare Valley) 2007
Briary, brambly fragrances redolent of bright mulberry and black cherry characters and earthy, gamey notes that gush onto the palate. There is opulence, concentration and weight, and silky smooth texture before gentle firmness to finish. There is a fineness and persistence to the flavours, a tightness of structure, and a delicate textural quality that give the wine its definition. It can be enjoyed over the next few years but will drink more gracefully with two to three years in the bottle and can be cellared for several years beyond that.

Grosset Gaia Cabernet Blend (Clare Valley) 2006
The wine itself is broodingly aromatic with dense, deep brambly, blackcurrant and dark plum flavours with a wonderful succulence in the mid-palate so it's much less austere than previous vintages. There is weight, power and tremendous density and layer after layer of flavour - which at present is pretty tightly coiled. A gentleness about the wine is evident that is not typical of Gaia at this age. The texture is velvety, almost seductive and there is an elegance to the wine. It is delicious now, yet with the capacity to age as well as any other vintage.
